Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test [PSAT/NMSQT]
We highly recommend juniors planning to attend a four-year university or college after high school take the PSAT. This test, co-sponsored by the CollegeBoard and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, is a good tool to predict how students may fair on the SAT as well as provide students with feedback on areas of strength and what areas that could use some improvement before taking the SAT.
The PSAT scores are used by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation to select potential recipients for its many scholarships.
The cost for this test is $16.00. The Purchase Line School Board will pay for the PSAT for its grade 11 students. Participants should bring a calculator to the periods the test will be administered.
