SAT/SAT REASONING TEST

 SAT/ SAT REASONING TEST

The SAT is a test that colleges and universities use to predict how successful a student may be in college. Colleges use these scores as a factor in determining a student's admissions status. Minimum scores vary from school to school and major to major. Students interested in a particular school should check with the Admissions Office of the school for more information.

The SAT tests Critical Reading, Mathematical, and Writing Skills.  Most schools look at the numbered scores of the Reading and Math sections in their admissions process.

We recommend students thinking about going to college take a college entrance exam (SAT or ACT) at least once in the Spring of the Junior Year and once in the Fall of the Senior Year.

The Army has MARCH 2 SUCCESS, FREE online test preparation courses, that may help students prepare for various tests.  Go to www.march2success.com to enroll.  The Guidance Office also has test preparation books for students to use.

Students may obtain a registration form in the Guidance Office, or they may register online.  Students should make sure that they include our high school code so that we receive their test scores.  Our school code is 390-780

Students should also keep in mind that some schools and organizations require students to have scores sent directly to them (Penn State University, NCAA Clearinghouse…). You get up to four free score reports sent out upon request. Make sure the school you are interested in gets your scores.

SAT SUBJECT TEST

The SAT Subject tests are tests in specific subject areas.  Most schools do not require students to take the SAT Subject tests.  It is important for students to check with the schools they are interested in attending to see if the subject tests are required for the school and the program/major of interest.

Registration booklets and preparation booklets are available in the guidance office or check out the CollegeBoard website.  Students should make sure that they include our high school code so that we receive their test scores.  Our school code is 390-780
