Instructional Goals:

The goal of this class is to continue to develop the reading and writing skills the student has gained from earlier instruction and to build on those by providing challenging reading and writing experiences which will increase the student's ability to understand, to analyze, and to verbalize his/ her ideas.

Classroom Policies, Rules, and Procedures

Late points are deducted from late assignments.

Due dates for long-term assignments (such as Reading Counts and Study Island) are given at the beginning of the marking period and are due at the end of the marking period.  There are no late points for these assignments. You will be given the grade you have earned on the due date. Those dates are posted in the room and in Progress Book.

Rules are posted in the class. All school rules apply.

Expectations for Student Performance and Behavior

Students are expected to continually develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.  Students are expected to read independently and write in different formats on the provided topics.

Students are expected to do what they are supposed to do when they are supposed to do it.

Rewards and Consequences

A bonus opportunity is available each grading period. It is posted in the room.

Consequences for negative behavior follow the school's discipline policy.
